THE
STATE EXAM: The State Exams are administered
by PSI Testing Service. The 3 hour exam is given in
four locations throughout the state. Testing locations
are in Metairie, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and Lake
Charles. Application for the exam must be filed with
the LREC.
The
real estate exam consists of two parts. The first
part is known as the "uniform portion". It consists
of 80 multiple choice questions covering information
which applies to all 50 states. The second part is
the "state portion" and it consists of 55 questions
covering all information pertinent to Louisiana only,
including Louisiana laws, rules and regulations and
how our law differs from the other 49 states.
To pass the exam you must score at least 70% on the
uniform portion and at least 75% on the state portion.
If you pass one part and not the other, you only have
to retake the part you did not pass. The state
exam for appraisers consists of 100 multiple choice
questions, and you must score at least 75%.
REQUIREMENTS
FOR SALESPERSON: In order to obtain a salesperson's
license you must complete 90 hours of approved classroom
training. After completing the educational requirements,
you must take and pass the Louisiana Real Estate Exam.
You must be at least 18 years of age and have a high
school degree or GED in order to be licensed in Louisiana.
As a salesperson you must be sponsored by a broker.
You have 90 days after passing the state exam in which
to obtain a sponsoring broker.
