To become a licensed mortgage originator you are required to complete the 20-hour course NMLS Safe Act Mortgage Loan Origination. You may repeat the class for up to 1 year from start date for a fee of $265.

You must make application to the National Mortgage Lending Service (NMLS) and pass the National Uniform State Exam. The initial license fee is $150 and the exam fee is $110.

The exam is administered by Prometric. Note: you will need to register with NMLS before scheduling your exam. Mortgage Loan Originators are required to complete 8 hours of continuing education annually.
