Mortgage Origination

 
Mortgage Origination Licensing Class

To become a licensed mortgage originator you must complete the 20-hour course, NMLS Safe Act Mortgage Loan Origination 101. You may repeat the class for up to 6 months from initial class date at no charge. If 6 months to 1 year from start date fee will be $175.  You must make application to the Office of Financial Institutions and must pass the State Exam. The initial license fee is $150 and the exam fee is $161. The exam is administered by Prometric or Pearson Vue. You must first register with NMLS before scheduling your exam. 8 hours per year is required for continuing education. 
 
 
Mortgage Origination Continuing Education
 
Originators are required to complete 8 hours per year of approved continuing education courses. We offer both live and online courses for CE credit.
 
 
Mortgage Origination Online Courses
 
The Burk Baker School of Real Estate & Appraising has partnered with the Association of Mortgage Educators (NMLS Provider ID:1400214) to offer the following online SAFE MLO Pre-licensing, NMLS Approved Continuing Education, and SAFE MLO Exam Preparation.

SCHOOL POLICIES 
 
Cancellations: 
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the start of class.
 
Refunds: 
Refunds will be given if student cancels within 48 hours of the start of class. The registration fee of $25 is not refundable but may be applied toward the cost of the course for up to 1 year from the original date of registration.
 
Privacy: 
 All information received from the student will be considered confidential and will not be made available to third parties except for purposes of reporting credit hours to NMLS or to the state of Louisiana.
